Precision and Capturing Reality
How did digital technology change the role of photography in society?
Digital photography has made precision and capturing reality easier due to the technologies we have now. We can capture every moment because it can be photographed exactly how we see it in that right moment and time and it allows us to see it right away in the palm of our hands because now we have technologies like our cell phones, digital camera, IPAD and Tablets.Plus, it only takes seconds to upload it to our computer and social media. Digital photography really made it easier for us to capture a recording of our life.
Digital technology changed the role of photography in society, because it makes photos more accessible. You can view, upload, and send photographs through a simple wifi connection, and upload it online to any social media outlet. You can also store photographs on your phone or computer, and digitally manipulate each piece for whatever particular purpose you have in mind.

Impact of digital Photography on Journalism
The biggest impact on digital photography for journalism is that street journalism has increased astronomically. As long as a person has a camera on their phone, they can easily capture images, and upload them. Some of which, are even held in high regards by news stations, and featured during their broadcasts.
It makes it easier for photographs to be sent to journalism publisher because photographs can be send from anywhere you are now because there is wifi and our digital devices are just in the palm of our hands and it”s only a click away from send.

The use of Digital Technology in Photo Manipulation and it’s impact on journalism, society and our Identity
Photos have always been a way of expressing how people see themselves. Digitalization allows people to make changes to their image and create how they want to be seen, instead of having the photographer and camera do it for them. Digital photography has become the definitive tool for people to use to create their own identity. However, with all the retouched and photo shopped images of people in magazines, on billboards, etc., it is hard to say if individuals actually have control over their own image, or if it is the images put forth by society that they are reflecting onto themselves.

In journalism, news photography is governed by rules
regarding photo manipulation designed to ensure accuracy and integrity.
However, TV publicity photography does not and digital alterations are becoming
the norm. When photos are manipulated, they can create a false image that is
impossible for people to live up to. Society has a growing problem with poor
self-image that digital technology and the ease of photo manipulation has
greatly contributed to.
Here is a video that shows just how much so many of the images we see are manipulated
